|Founded in 1946 and set in the very heart of the Norfolk Broads, Martham Boats is a traditional boat yard that hires traditional wooden cruisers, sailing yachts, half-deckers, bungalows, motor cruisers, canoes and day launches on the River Thurne. Set in idyllic Norfolk Broads countryside,we offer a wide range of self catering accommodation from cosy riverside bungalows to the hire of traditional hand crafted timber and GRP Norfok Broads Cruisers and Sailing Yachts. Some of our traditional wooden boats were designed and built here at Martham by our dedicated team of Boat Builders back in the 1940's/1950's, and they have been constructed in a way that harmonises with the romantic views of the Norfolk Broads and the Suffolk Broads and their wildlife.|
Our boat hire fleet not only includes Norfolk Broads traditional wooden cruisers and sailing yachts, there is also a selection of electric launches/day boats and half deckers (day sailers), which are available for hire for those who wish to spend a quiet day exploring our beautiful and safe rivers here on the Norfolk Broads. Alongside our current Norfolk Broads boat hire fleet, we now have canoes which are new to this year. Canoeing in the Norfolk Broads is wonderful and safe experience for all the family. It allows you to explore all of our smallest waterways and view at close hand all the wonderful wild life that the Norfolk Broads has to offer. Designed to take up to 4 people, our purpose built canoes are fully equipped with all buoyancy aids.
Martham is on one of the quietest stretches of the River Thurne between Potter Heigham and Hickling. Our newly refurbished Quay Heading and river bank is a magnificent place for those who wish to moor their boat whether it be a day boat, sailing boat or broads cruiser. Along with moorings we have various facilities at our River Side Office which include showers, toilets, water, diesel & petrol, pump out facilties and car parking as well as our own slip way for those of you who wish to use it.
The Norfolk Broads are also world famous for fishing. From monster pike to perch and roach, many catch records have been set here. Our bungalows are particularly appealing to those that wish to fish from their own private area on the River Thurne whilst having all the comforts of home just a few yards away.
Fishing is not the only thing that the Norfolk Broads is world famous for. The nature reserves in the Norfolk Broads are spectacular for those who enjoy walking, rambling and hiking. Here you will find miles of country lanes to explore which lead you to hidden villages and plenty of pubs. Whilst walking you will have ample opportunity to carry out lots of bird watching and butterfly spotting. Over the last few years, many rare species of both birds and butterflies have been seen.
