Preview of what happens after a season on The Norfolk Broads
At Martham Boats we have decided to let our web page viewers have a sneak preview at what actually happens here during the off peak season. Many think that as the Summer has passed and the winter months are on the horizon, that the work load is minimized and jobs to be done are few and far between...
In that case 'Many' are wrong.
During the Winter season the work team are here repairing and maintaining our traditional wooden motor cruisers and yachts. We undertake all kinds of repairs including engine & mechanical repairs, hull and decking repairs, rigging, interior fitting, upholstery and electrics.
Hull and Decking Repairs:
Here we have Javelin 2, who had recently collided with another boat and ended up the worse for wear. She was swiftly repaired as soon as she was placed in the shed. Our work team are currently bringing up the decking of Javelin since there was rotting underneath.
This is Violet, one of our smallest yachts, many of the rubbers and toe rails need replacing for this boat, as they are looking worn and old now, with a few chips and bumps adding to the damage of old age.
Engine and Mechanical Repairs
We have one of our staff beginning to disconnect the engine in order for it to be lifted out for maintenance.
Javelin 2, one of our larger yachts getting a brand new cabin side, after the old one was worn after years of use.
